 We can help you:

Intuitive Education Consultation:

Our consultation work not only makes sense of the IEP and 504 procedures and process, but more importantly, we help our clients come to a revitalized, inspired understanding of their children.  Complex kids require a new school of thought, outside of the traditional box, for so many of our kids are square pegs within round holes and struggle due to this dynamic.  Our work is based upon the theme:  "Love Understanding, and Other Best Practices".  Simply put, it's time to appreciate the peg, and fix the hole!

No matter how hard you try, if you or the members of the IEP or 504 Team don't "get it", then the intervention process seems to move in circles without direction, understanding, nor effective intervention.  First and foremost, our team "gets kids", by this, we help you come to the table with an intuitive understanding of your children. Through an evidence-based approach: assessments, evaluation tools, and classroom based learning guides our consultation support cuts to the core at an intuitive level. We are all well-experienced in the IEP / 504 process as "insiders" and have extensive background as staff members, administrators, and instructional coaches.  Nevertheless, we all have discovered that our insights and understanding of special needs kids comes from an enlightened, tuned-in perspective. We support our clients from a balance of head and heart, intuition, and experience.

 Sample of our work:

 ADD/ADHD:

We have many years of experience in health-impairment and ADD/ADHD diagnosis related conditions significantly impacting learning; many of our clients have children who struggle with this gift. These exceptional children, often described as "over enthusiastic"  have gifts and talents requiring extraordinary learning needs beyond boiler-plate accommodations; a one-size-fits-all format will not work for kids who are exemplify a "square peg in a round hole", especially ADD/ADHD.  Our work tends to focus on a few key factors:  build an IEP upon strengths, understand how processing skills play out within the learning setting, support with extensive organization and planning skill development, and most notably, establish relationship as the glue that holds it all together

Autism Spectrum:

Some of the most challenging casework can be found within Autism IEP and 504 intervention sessions. This is due to the complex nature discovered within each specific child for every child is truly unique.  This is amplified when sensory processing, social-expressive skill development, and hyper-focus are at play.  Our work here, like in all cases, is to establish a foundation of mutual understanding before moving into accommodations, specially designed instruction, and services.  Seeing "eye to eye" is everything! Our consultants have direct experience as advocates, parents, and teachers; we know the kids from our heads and hearts!

Adoption - Attachment - Foster Care:

Here again, the process of inquiry and discovery serves as the core within these cases for true understanding may be lost in "masking" behaviors; what you see may not be at the fundamental center of the issues.  Many of the kids with attachment issues bring to school hyper-compliance or oppositional defiance as their coping tools and this often masks the real issues of concern.  So our primary objective here is to flush out the Evaluation and Present Levels of Performance with a fine tooth comb.  We have extensive experience as advocates, parents, and guardian ad litem.

Pushing process the process toward mutual understanding and evidence-based decision making.

 Behavior & Instructional planning:

Collaborating with school personnel in developing appropriate goals, objectives, and behavior management systems toward academic success takes our practice to a whole new level for we have expertise in class management and behavior intervention from years as classroom teachers, principals, and special education specialists; we "get it".   Fundamentally, we know that students achieve leaps and bounds when consistency and appropriate follow-through are coordinated within a well written Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).  Also, we work with some of the best Behavior Interventionists in the region when an Independent Education Evaluation is required in support of the more complex cases.

Pre-Due Process Support:

Too many times I have seen cases go to Due Process due to poor communication and misunderstanding on both sides of the table.  As a result, each year we are asked to serve as the "last ditch effort" toward resolution and it works!  The work we do every day is founded upon the guiding principle: creating mutual understanding.  And in doing so, innovation, inspiration, and creativity rise to the surface with the child's needs at the center of discussion instead of self-interest and defending turf.
